Day Types & Profile Shapes
Trend, normal and neutral days; D, P and b shapes.
The shape a profile makes tells you what kind of day it was — and what to expect next. The letter of the shape is a quick shorthand.
- D-shape (Normal/Balanced) — a fat, symmetric bell; a rotational, two-sided day around a clear POC.
- P-shape — narrow at the bottom, wide at the top; often a short-covering rally that then balances.
- b-shape — wide at the bottom, narrow at the top; often long liquidation.
- Trend day — a thin, elongated profile that keeps extending one way (see one-time framing).
Reading shape early — is value building up, down, or sideways? — keeps you on the right side of the day and stops you fading a genuine trend.
